Cannondale has produced a special yellow SuperSix EVO racing bike for Tour de France leader Ben Healy. The bike is based on the LAB71 SuperSix EVO model and was delivered from the Netherlands to France in record time. It features yellow paintwork and colour-coordinated components to honour Healy's lead in the overall standings.

A yellow bike to go with the yellow jersey is almost mandatory for the teams at the Tour de France. To mark Ben Healy taking the yellow jersey at the Tour de France, Cannondale has provided the rider from the EF Education - EasyPost team with a special racing bike. The yellow painted SuperSix EVO is based on the LAB71 model, with which Healy had already won the sixth stage of this year's Tour. The geometry has been optimised for an agile riding style so that Healy can push the limits of physics in tight bends. According to the press release, the company transported the special frame from its European office in the Netherlands to the south of France in record time. The team's mechanics assembled the bike in the early morning before the eleventh stage so that Healy could ride his first stage in the yellow jersey on a suitable racing bike. In addition to the yellow-painted frame, other components were also colour-matched. Vision, for example, had the Metron 60 RS wheels fitted with yellow stickers and Wahoo had the ELEMNT BOLT 3 bike computer in yellow.

Features of the Cannondale SuperSix EVO

The SuperSix EVO from Ben Healy is equipped with a one-piece carbon cockpit from Cannondale. The SystemBar R-One handlebars were developed in collaboration with the motorsport company MOMODesign. Healy has turned the shift levers inwards in order to achieve a more aerodynamic riding position. Classic black Fizik Solocush handlebar tape is used, which the rider favours for its comfort. Power transmission is provided by 167.5 millimetre long FSA K-Force Powerbox Team Edition cranks with 54-40 FSA chainrings. The gears are from Shimano, with an 11-34 cassette installed. The Wahoo SPEEDPLAY AERO pedals are used, which, according to the manufacturer, have a special aerodynamic profile with dimples to reduce air resistance.

SuperSix EVO wheels and tyres

For the wheels, Healy relies on the Vision Metron 60 RS. These carbon rims from the Racing Series have a rim width of 23 millimetres. The wheels are built by hand with aerodynamically shaped DP Carbon spokes. The tyres used are 30 millimetre wide Vittoria Corsa Pro tyres. These are fitted with Air-Liner inserts to provide more comfort. The pink Muc-Off valves provide a colourful accent.

Ben Healy was delighted with his new racing bike: "What can I say? I'm just super happy to have it," the rider is quoted as saying. "It was a quick turnaround from Cannondale. It's something special - all in yellow. What more could I ask for? It's a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to wear the yellow jersey, so you have to give it your all when you can."
