- A emergency kit containing a spare inner tube, tyre levers, a multi-tool, a mini-pump and the correct tyre pressure (achieved using a floor pump) will ensure you can keep going and enjoy a comfortable ride.
- Expensive technical accessories such as power metres, carbon upgrades or clip-in pedals are not essential to begin with; practical riding experience and regular cycling are more important.

- A 6-litre frame bag for €59.99, weighing 264 g, made from robust 600D fabric and featuring IPX3 splash protection; fits very securely within the frame triangle.
- One main compartment with a mesh pocket, internal straps and a feed-through for cables or a hydration tube; smooth-running zip, but less flexible organisation than the 9-litre version.
- More compact than the 9-litre model; depending on the frame, it leaves space for a water bottle on the seat tube and is particularly suitable for day trips and light bikepacking tours.

The perfect size for bikepacking?: Review of the Decathlon Rockrider frame bag

- Affordable, waterproof 4-litre frame bag weighing 140 g, with easy fitting and a clever, virtually airtight zip for compressing luggage.
- The zip is very stiff, usually requiring both hands to operate, and prevents quick opening whilst riding.
- The adhesive fastening loops, rather than stitched ones, tear after a few months; the pannier loses its secure hold and becomes practically unusable.
