woom is positioning itself in the growing segment of e-bikes for children and young people with the Explore e. The Austrians presented the non-motorised Explore children's bike just last autumn. The new model is designed to give young riders between the ages of 7 and 14 more freedom of movement and independence - or the ability to easily keep up with their parents on a complete tour.

At the heart of the drive is the compact eX1 battery from Mahle, which is no bigger than a water bottle and is mounted on the frame in exactly the same way. It can be easily removed and charged using a USB-C cable. With a range of up to 50 kilometres, longer tours are also possible.

Drive and operation tailored to children

The motor used is the X30 system from the German manufacturer Mahle. The electric motor integrated into the rear wheel hub provides support up to a speed of 25 km/h. According to woom, the drive works almost silently. The three support levels are specially tailored to the riding ability and needs of children. There are deliberately no buttons or displays on the handlebars to avoid distractions for the little riders. Children or parents can set the power modes directly on the battery or via the Mahle SmartBike app. The app also offers features such as the recording of various riding parameters and the option of a detailed route analysis.

With an e-bike, it's not just the hardware that counts, the software also plays a decisive role. It must provide gentle support and make the riding experience intuitive. Safety at the centre of the new woom children's bike

woom emphasises that safety was at the forefront of the development of the Explore e children's bike. The intuitive pedal assistance and powerful disc brakes are designed to ensure a safe and comfortable ride. The frame geometry is ergonomically optimised and designed for a slightly stretched, sportier riding position.

New opportunities for families

Nicole Lunzer, woom Marketing Manager, explains the new concept of a children's e-bike as follows: "The woom EXPLORE e is more than just a sporty all-round e-bike - it changes the mobility of the whole family and creates memorable experiences. Children and young people can cover longer and steeper distances on an e-bike, making their everyday mobility much more flexible. This means more freedom and independence - for both children and parents. And it boosts the riders' self-confidence. We are therefore firmly convinced that e-bikes contribute to an active lifestyle. Because if you enjoy riding, you will ride more often. And if you ride more often, you move more."

The woom Explore e is now available online and from participating dealers in Austria and Germany. The recommended retail price is 1599 euros for the 24-inch model and 1699 euros for the 26-inch version >> available here.
