The overall event runs from 27 August to 3 September and is still called 4 Jours CIC de Plouay - four days of cycling in Plouay. In fact, with a BMX competition on Sunday, 27 August, it even spans five days. In addition to the women's race with the name Classic Lorient Agglomeration - Trophee Ceratizit more races are on the programme:
The race will take place on Saturday, 2 September 2023 and will pass through 15 municipalities in the greater Lorient area. The organiser's website has the following information translated from French about women's cycling and the route:
While women's cycling is on the rise with more and more new events in the UCI calendar, the Plouay Cyclisme Organisation presents the most beautiful route of the year.
Last year, Spain's Mavi Garcia won the race. Who will be her successor this year? A total of 24 teams have registered. The new road world champion Lotte Kopecky, last year's winner Garcia and the top German rider Liane Lippert are also expected to take part.
The Women's World Tour Classic Lorient Agglomeration - Trophee Ceratizit race is 159.8 kilometres long and awaits the riders with 2286 metres of climbing. At the end of the race, there are two laps of the 11.7 kilometre circuit in Plouay.
The race will take place on Saturday from 12:35 to 17:00 and will be streamed live on Discovery+ and GCN+ (both via paid subscription) from 12:40 to 17:00. Live television coverage is not planned.
There is also a race for the men's World Tour, which takes place on Sunday, 3 September. The route of the men's race is 258.30 kilometres long with 4235 metres of climbing. For the 24 registered teams, the aim is to follow in the footsteps of Belgian Wout van Aert, who won the race last year. The Jumbo-Visma pro will probably not be at the start this year. Instead, cycling fans can look forward to the appearance of his long-term rival and new world champion Mathieu van der Poel. The provisional start list also includes Cyclassics winner Mads Pedersen, Jasper Philipsen and Arnaud De Lie.
Just like the women's race, the men's competition will not be shown live on TV. Instead, there will be a paid live stream on Discovery+ and GCN+. This will run from 11:45 to 17:00.
