Northwave presents the Celsius XT Arctic GTX, the new flagship of the autumn/winter 2025/26 collection. Winter shoe aimed at cyclistswho ride all year round - regardless of the weather or terrain. The designation XT stands for All-Terrain and emphasises the shoe's universal range of use.

The Celsius XT Arctic GTX combines four key technologies: GORE-TEX Cirrus XT 4L membrane, Primaloft Gold insulation, low-cut upper with neoprene gaiter and the Jaws Evo sole. This combination enables use on gravel rides, MTB tours and demanding everyday rides. The shoe works just as well in temperatures below freezing as it does in muddy conditions or on snowy trails.

Low-cut design with neoprene gaiter

The low-cut upper differs from conventional winter boots due to the lower shaft height. The integrated neoprene gaiter protects against the ingress of water and dirt without restricting mobility in the ankle area. This construction enables natural pedalling movements even on longer rides.

The revised last shape creates more volume in the toe area. A full-length zip and two pull tabs make it easier to put on and take off, even with cold fingers. The integrated reflective elements increase visibility when riding at dusk or in the dark - an important safety aspect for winter riding.

GORE-TEX Cirrus XT 4L membrane

Northwave has been using GORE-TEX technology in cycling shoes since 2005 and continues to develop this partnership. The Celsius XT Arctic GTX uses the new GORE-TEX Cirrus XT 4L membrane, which is produced completely PFAS-free. This membrane offers complete moisture protection and breathability at the same time.

How do you like this article?

The 4-layer construction of the membrane actively regulates moisture inside the shoe. Sweat is transported to the outside, while rain and slush cannot penetrate. The membrane works reliably even on longer trips without moisture accumulating in the shoe.

Primaloft Gold insulation for thermal protection

Northwave has integrated 200g Primaloft Gold eco insulation in the forefoot area. This synthetic insulation also works in damp conditions and retains its thermal performance. The insulation is focussed on the toe area, as this is where blood circulation first decreases in cold temperatures.

The Primaloft Gold eco filling consists of 60 per cent recycled materials. The insulation does not compress permanently and retains its bulk even after frequent use. Northwave deliberately dispenses with insulation in the midfoot and heel area to prevent overheating and not impair power transmission.

Jaws Evo sole for universal use

The Jaws Evo sole combines efficient power transmission with secure walking comfort. The sole construction is just as suitable for bikepacking tours with carrying passages as it is for pure riding on winter trails. The sole offers advanced toe flexibility and supports the natural arch of the foot.

The Flexi System technology enables controlled rolling when walking. Generous rubber profiling on the heel and toe area ensures a secure grip on slippery surfaces. The 37 mm channel width enables the precise positioning of cleats from all common pedal systems. The sole uses a mixture of hard and soft rubber - hard in the cleat area for efficiency, soft in the walking zones for traction.

X-Dial SLW3 locking system

The X-Dial SLW3 system enables precise adjustment through micro-adjustment. The dial can also be operated with thick winter gloves and offers both tightening and loosening. The system distributes the pressure evenly over the entire instep and prevents pressure points.

The fastener works with a steel cable that runs through guides in the upper material. The entire system can be replaced if damaged. The X-Dial SLW3 holds reliably even at sub-zero temperatures and does not freeze. Operation is intuitive - clockwise for tighter, anti-clockwise for looser.

Availability and pricing

The Celsius XT Arctic GTX is available in three colour variants: Light grey, black and yellow-neon. The size range extends from 36 to 48, and Northwave also offers half sizes from 39.5 to 45.5. This variety of sizes enables a precise fit for different foot shapes.

The recommended retail price is 269.99 euros. The boot is positioned in the premium segment for winter footwear and competes with comparable models from other manufacturers. Availability begins with the autumn/winter season 2025/26 via specialist retailers and selected online retailers >> such as at Rosebikes.
