With the Domane+ SLR, Trek is launching a new e-road bike with six models that can keep up with non-motorised road bikes, and not just in terms of looks and riding experience. Thanks to the extremely lightweight TQ HPR 50 e-bike motor, the Trek e-road bike scores points above all with its weight. Despite the drive assistance, the lightest model weighs just 11.8 kilograms and is therefore reminiscent of conventional racing bikes.

In addition to the light 1.89-kilogram motor, the 800 Series OCLV Carbon is also responsible for the low weight of the Trek Domane+ SLR. In addition to the weight, the noise development, fit and ride feel ensure a real racing bike feeling. The mode selection buttons on the brake lever enable natural pedalling support on all tours and have Eco, Mid and High modes.

Trek Domane+ SLR with Iso-Speed

As with other Domane bikes, an Iso-Speed is installed to dampen bumps, which should provide more comfort on long journeys. All models come with tubeless tyres. Tyres up to 40C can be fitted, which is particularly interesting for gravel enthusiasts. The Tap models are equipped with gravel tyres and a SRAM XPLR 1x groupset, allowing the bike to be ridden on gravel as well as asphalt.

The HPR 50 e-bike motor from TQ should be quiet, light and small, but have enough power for longer road bike tours. The motor, which is used in mountain bikes as well as road bikes, has already been tested at EMTB. Test. The motor from the Bavarian company impresses with its unobtrusiveness. TQ has installed the drive in such a way that it is barely recognisable as an electric motor. In the eMTB test, it is noticeable that the motor requires a certain level of commitment and a higher cadence from the rider in order to fully develop its power. However, the power is still noticeable and the ride feels very smooth.

Motor drive noise at high pedalling frequencies

The 360 Wh battery weighs 1.85 kilograms and has a range of up to 100 kilometres. An optional range extender with 160 Wh enables a capacity of up to 145 kilometres. The range of the Trek Domane+ SLR E-road bike can be extended even further using the Trek Central app. The battery is noiseless when it is inserted, while the drive noise is particularly noticeable when pedalling at a high cadence and is virtually absent on the descent. In terms of noise, the TQ HPR 50 performs better than other light e-bike motors.
