Following its successful debut in 2025, the second edition of the GFNY series cycle race will take place in Bremen. The race is part of the GFNY series – participants must be aged 16 or over. It is a timed cycle race on closed roads.
GFNY Bremen route
The Tabakquartier in Bremen will once again serve as the start and finish. The fast and varied route takes riders through Bremen and the surrounding countryside of Lower Saxony. At first glance, the course profile appears typical of northern Germany, but it challenges participants with a constantly changing rhythm, numerous changes of direction and a high race pace. “Many people associate northern Germany with flat roads. In fact, the region around Bremen offers excellent conditions for fast and demanding road cycling. At GFNY Bremen, there are no excuses. Whoever is at the front at the end will have prevailed against the entire field,” says GFNY Race Director Uli Fluhme in a press release.
International racing series
The race is part of the GFNY series (GFNY stands for Gran Fondo New York). This global race series comprises over 30 events across Europe, North America, South America and Asia. The competition format combines local races with national and continental championships. The start list includes participants from Germany, Europe and overseas, as well as numerous riders from Bremen and the local communities along the route. The mix of an international field of participants and strong regional roots is one of the event’s distinctive features.
GFNY Bremen Cycling Experience
The fully secured circuit allows participants to concentrate entirely on the sporting competition. “Our aim is to give as many riders as possible the opportunity to experience real racing in safe conditions. The fact that everyone rides the same circuit creates a shared experience for the entire event,” said Fluhme. Registration is still open – a starting place currently costs €107.91 (including fees).
