The Tacx Alpine from Garmin brings the Alpine feeling into the living room and expands the possibilities of indoor training. The new incline simulator is able to simulate inclines from minus 10 per cent to plus 25 per cent. This allows cyclists to train specifically for mountain tours and challenging cycling marathons even in bad weather or in the off-season. The Tacx Alpine is compatible with the Tacx NEO 3M and NEO 2T trainers. It supports the multidirectional movements of the NEO 3M and the NEO Motion Plates. According to the manufacturer, the incline simulator is always safe to ride despite the movements forwards and backwards, to the side and upwards and downwards - both when seated and when pedalling. In conjunction with compatible third-party apps, the bike can be controlled interactively in the software.
The Tacx Alpine enables cyclists to simulate the specific stresses of mountain cycling in indoor training. Riding uphill places different demands on the muscles than riding on flat terrain. With the incline simulator, athletes can now also apply these stimuli at home. The system raises and lowers the bike fork to simulate the gradients. The Dynamic Fork Mount makes virtual steering possible in real time - simply by turning the handlebars. According to Garmin, the incline simulator supports multidirectional movements, making it easier to get out of the saddle on climbs. This should ensure a natural riding experience.
With the Tacx Training app, you can complete training plans on a compatible smart trainer and take part in virtual group rides. You can also experience videos of some of the most famous cycling routes and locations around the world. The incline can be adjusted manually using the integrated control panel. When linked to compatible apps, the incline is adjusted in real time depending on the route, explains the manufacturer. After a training session, all statistics can be displayed and analysed in detail via the Garmin Connect app. This enables precise analysis of training progress.
The Tacx Alpine is now available in stores (e.g. at Fitstore24) available. The manufacturer's recommended retail price is 1099.99 euros. The device is compatible with the Tacx NEO 3M and NEO 2T trainers. It simulates inclines between minus 10 per cent and plus 25 per cent. The Dynamic Fork Mount enables virtual steering by turning the handlebars. The inclination can be controlled manually via an integrated control panel or automatically via compatible apps. Garmin also offers the Tacx Training App, which can be used to complete training plans and carry out virtual group rides. The training statistics can then be analysed in the Garmin Connect app.
