Rouvy has announced the acquisition of Bkool. With this strategic move, the indoor cycling specialist is further expanding its market leadership in the field of virtual cycling reality and strengthening its presence in France, Spain and Denmark in particular. Despite the acquisition, Bkool will continue to operate as an independent brand under the umbrella of the Rouvy Group.

Rouvy, known for its virtual reality cycling app, has acquired Bkool. The announcement was made on 24 July 2025, a move that consolidates the company's position as a leading provider of virtual indoor cycling platforms and opens up new markets in Southern Europe and Scandinavia, according to a press release. Bkool has a strong presence in Spain and other Spanish-speaking countries as well as in France and Denmark - regions in which Rouvy is planning expansion measures.

Rouvy's market position and growth strategy

According to Rouvy, the company has experienced significant growth in recent years and now has around 250,000 active users. This development and growth enables Rouvy to react to changes in the industry and invest in the further development of its platform. With its offering, the company is positioning itself specifically for cyclists looking for realistic indoor training experiences. Rouvy had already acquired FulGaz in January.

Utilising technological synergies

In particular, Bkool's technology for converting GPX files into three-dimensional virtual routes is of strategic importance to Rouvy, as the company reports. This complements Rouvy's own route creator technology and supports the goal of linking indoor and outdoor cycling experiences more closely, according to Rouvy. The integration of the various technological approaches is intended to enable cyclists to organise their training sessions in an even more versatile way and virtually recreate real routes. By combining the expertise of Rouvy, FulGaz and now also Bkool, a comprehensive range of virtual training options has been created that covers various needs and preferences - from simple fitness training to targeted preparation for specific competitions.

Future plans and prospects

Petr Samek, co-founder and CEO of Rouvy, who is now also taking over the position of CEO at Bkool, emphasises the importance of the merger for the indoor cycling community. The merger of Rouvy, FulGaz and Bkool combines comprehensive expertise and unique functions under one roof and clearly positions Rouvy as the market leader in the field of indoor cycling reality. The acquisition is a further step in the company's mission to connect indoor and outdoor, to help cyclists perform better all year round and to support them in realising their sporting dreams. With the expanded company base, Rouvy can now invest more in product development, marketing and exciting concepts with partners in order to offer users more added value.

What does the takeover mean for BKOOL users?

Initially, little will change for existing BKOOL users. Bkool will continue to operate as an independent brand within the Rouvy Group. The initial focus will be on ensuring the stability and reliability of the platform. Similar to the acquisition of FulGaz, Rouvy will then enter a learning phase in which the needs of the existing Bkool community will be analysed before a long-term roadmap is developed.
