Canyon is releasing a new Grail model, or rather a new variant. The Grail RIFT, whose name stands for "Rough Is Fast Tuning", combines the racing performance of the proven Grail frame with a specially developed gravel suspension fork. The F 132 ONE suspension fork, which offers 40 millimetres of suspension travel, was developed in collaboration with the Swiss component manufacturer DT Swiss. This suspension fork has already been spotted a few weeks ago at TRAKA. According to Canyon, the new fork provides more comfort and control on technically demanding trails without compromising efficiency in racing. The F 132 ONE suspension fork is the result of a four-year development phase. According to Canyon, this is a response to the trend towards ever more demanding routes in gravel races.
The new suspension fork has an air spring which, according to Canyon, reacts sensitively even to small bumps. This should reduce fatigue, improve traction in corners and increase steering precision in the event of unexpected bumps. Tuning is carried out via a concealed valve in the fork crown. A lightweight cartridge is used for damping. Canyon promises that the damping makes the 40 millimetres of travel feel like more. The rebound can be adjusted to the rider's weight and preferences in nine clicks via an easily accessible adjustment wheel on the lower fork leg. Another core element is the remote control for the fork lockout, called Pushcontrol. The ergonomic lever makes it possible to lock or open the fork while riding without taking your hands off the handlebars. This allows riders to utilise the full efficiency of the system when pedalling uphill and quickly revert to the suspension when encountering obstacles.
Canyon emphasises that great importance was attached to a clean look during development. The industrial designers from both companies worked closely together to achieve seamless integration. The fork geometry is said to be specially adapted to the Grail and Grizl models. The F 132 ONE also allows the remote control cable to be routed completely internally and has a semi-integrated brake line from the head tube to the fork crown. Universal mounting options for fork bags and panniers are provided for bikepacking applications (weight limit: 3 kilograms per side).
The new Grail CFR RIFT gravel bike is at the top of the model range. It is equipped with a Shimano GRX 825 Di2 2x12 drivetrain and DT Swiss GRC1100 50-millimetre wheels. The price is 7,999 euros. In addition to the RIFT model, the entire Grail range has been given a facelift. All Grail CFR bikes are now equipped with the Canyon CP0047 Gear Groove Pro cockpit, which offers aerodynamic grip positions, 16-degree flare and a width of 400 millimetres. CF SLX models get a power meter, CF and SLX models are equipped with narrower cockpits. The entry-level Grail CF 7 model comes with Shimano GRX 822 2x12 gears, DT Swiss Gravel LN wheels and a Canyon CP0045 cockpit at a price of € 2,399. Other models are positioned between these extremes, such as the Grail CF SLX 8 Di2 with Shimano GRX 825 Di2 2x12 drivetrain and DT Swiss GRC1400 50-millimetre wheels for €5,199.
The new Canyon Grail models, including the Grail CFR RIFT edition, will be available from 27 May 2025 in all countries except the USA. As usual, they will be sold via the Canyon online shop, the Canyon app and the physical stores and showrooms of the company. With the introduction of the Grail RIFT and the revised Grail range, Canyon is responding to the increasing demands in the gravel segment. It remains to be seen how this technology will prove itself in practice and whether other manufacturers will follow suit with similar concepts.
