With the Rose M Bib Shorts Rose is launching a classically designed bib shorts aimed at sporty touring cyclists. The focus is on a clean fit, reliable comfort and understated, functional features – ideal for regular off-road riding and on gravel sections.
Fit & Material
The base layer fits close to the body without being too tight – a noticeably comfortable balance of support and freedom of movement. The stretchy fabric adapts well to different body shapes and retains its shape even on longer rides.
The fabric is similar to classic Lycra: robust enough for continuous use, whilst also being breathable and quick-drying. Even when the demands on the body vary – ascents, descents, changes in pace – the climate inside the trousers remains pleasantly balanced.
The shoulder straps are minimalist in design, elasticated and lie flat against the body. They distribute the pressure evenly across the shoulders and keep the trousers securely in place – even when sitting in a low, sporty position.
It’s striking that the legs of the Rose trousers are cut particularly long and reach just above the kneecap – it’s not to everyone’s taste. The M Bib Shorts very high. You feel well wrapped up and the trousers provide good support for the body.
Seat cushions & comfort
At the heart of the design is a functional seat pad, designed for medium to long distances. It provides sufficient cushioning in the sit bones area without adding bulk. In practice, this results in a pleasantly direct feel on the saddle, combined with plenty of comfort in reserve for longer rides. For extreme long-distance riding or uncompromising racing, there are more specialised options – but when it comes to classic touring and training, Rose hits the nail on the head here.

In the test, the Rose trousers really catch the eye with their strikingly long legs, which reach just above the kneecap – this is clearly a matter of personal taste, both visually and functionally. On the body, they have a similarly compact fit to the Gonso model: the briefs are snug and have an unusually high rise, extending well beyond the navel and thus providing a very enveloping feel.
When worn, the support system is particularly impressive. The elastic straps lie flat against the skin, fit comfortably and do not dig in at all. Both practical and stylish: the small cargo pocket, which adds extra practicality to the design.
It is in the padding that these trousers really come into their own. It feels high-quality, is neatly segmented and sits precisely beneath the sit bones. It also provides plenty of coverage at the front. Combined with the high-waisted fit, this results in a very stable and secure fit overall.
All in all, the Rose cycling shorts are particularly recommended for cyclists who prefer long legs and a high-cut waistband – and who place particular importance on well-designed, comfortable padding.
