While the professionals will start in front of the historic town hall in Osnabrück in the 375th anniversary year of the Peace of Westphalia, the amateur cyclists will begin the race in front of the town hall in Münster. For the first time, the riders will start the three routes in Münster city centre against the backdrop of Prinzipalmarkt.
The short distance is perfect for beginners and leisure cyclists. After leaving Münster in the direction of the canal, the route is completely flat through the beautiful Münsterland parkland. The routes separate before Ladbergen and it is already half-time for all participants on the 60-kilometre route. Passing the Rieselfeldern, Münster is reached from the north and the finish area at Münster Castle comes into view.
The 95-kilometre route is already a little more demanding. After the route separation, the Teutoburg Forest is approached via Kattenvenne, where two smaller climbs await halfway through the route. Via Lengerich and Ladbergen, the route leads through the most beautiful corners of the Steinfurt district back to Münster. Thanks to the Teuto, there are almost 500 metres of elevation gain in the profile - feasible with a good level of training.
Almost twice as many metres in altitude have to be completed on the long distance of the Münsterland Giro 2023. The centrepiece is an extra loop through the Teuto with many kilometres of the professional race, which awaits the ambitious cyclists from Lengerich. A steep ramp with a gradient of up to 13 per cent leads up the Kleeberg. Passing the canyon, the route heads towards Leeden and crosses the A1 motorway five times on this Teuto loop before returning to the route of all LeezenCup races before Ladbergen.
The Münsterland Giro races on 3 October promise closed and secured roads, a starter bag with lots of surprises, refreshments on the longer distances and at the finish, shower facilities and a large event area in front of Münster Castle. You can register for the start at anmeldung.muensterland-giro.de.
In preparation for 3 October, all routes are already signposted and can be incorporated into training. GPS files for the bike computer and detailed maps of all routes are also available on the website.
