Bad weather: Women's Giro time trial cancelled

Wegen der Wetterbedingungen ist das Auftaktzeitfahren des Giro d'Italia Donne abgebrochen worden.
Due to bad weather conditions, the opening time trial at the start of the 34th edition of the Giro d'Italia Donne has been cancelled. This was announced by the world cycling organisation UCI.
The jury of the Italian women's tour decided to cancel the battle against the clock over 4.4 kilometres within the municipality of Chianciano Terme. The German champion Liane Lippert had not yet started at the time of the cancellation.
Giro Donne: Heavy rain & flooded roads
Several riders had already started before the race was first interrupted and then stopped. Videos showed heavy rain and flooded roads. It initially remained unclear whether the time trial would be rescheduled.
On Saturday, the participants have to complete 102.1 kilometres between Bagno a Ripoli and Marradi. The World Tour Etapen race from Tuscany to Sardinia will run until 9 July and finish in Olbia.
