Sorgte auf dem BMX für die erste deutsche Medaille bei den European Championships: Kim Lea Müller.
After Kim Lea Müller secured the first German medal at the European Championships in Munich, she herself was completely surprised.

"I haven't quite realised it yet. I didn't believe it either," the 20-year-old said on TV after surprisingly coming second in the BMX freestyle. ARD. After two strong runs, only Iveta Miculycova from the Czech Republic was better than the Oldenburg athlete.

First international medal for Müller

It was the first international medal for Müller, who scored 78.6 points. From a German perspective, Lara Lessmann was actually the big medal candidate, but she had to settle for fourth place with 75.3 points after some minor mistakes.

"BMX is not yet so well known. The fact that it's here means that more people are aware of how cool BMX is," added Müller, who can make good use of the prize of 1500 euros for her upcoming three-month holiday in Australia.
