Olympic champion, multiple European and world champion: after the end of her great career, Lisa Brennauer is now looking forward to a new challenge.

Tokyo Olympic champion Lisa Brennauer has joined the coaching staff of the German Cycling Federation. This was announced by the BDR on Thursday.

Lisa Brennauer talks about her new role

The seven-time world champion, who ended her career at the European Championships in August, will initially gain her first experience under women's head coach Andre Korff. "It's a challenge to accompany my sport from a different perspective and to support female athletes in the best possible way. I know the structures, I know the competitions and I see this as a huge advantage over someone who comes from outside, even if I lack experience as a coach," said Brennauer, who obtained her A coaching licence in November.

Brennauer won the gold medal with the German women's track cycling quad in Tokyo in 2021. The World Championship and European Championship titles followed in the same year. The foursome with Brennauer, Lisa Klein, Franziska Brauße and Mieke Kröger was also named team of the year in Baden-Baden at the end of 2021.
