The reason for this is exhaustion syndrome. Schachmann has suffered various health setbacks this year and has contracted Covid-19 twice. In July, the Bora-Hansgrohe-Professional the Tour de France, paused thereafter and also left the Germany Tour off. The 28-year-old actually wanted to finish the WM end of the month in Australia.
"There is no other therapy than rest, so I will now take a longer break," said Schachmann. The plan now is to be fit again for the 2023 season. He should be racing again as early as January in Australia.
"Max has had a difficult phase since the Olympic Games last year. He simply wasn't stable enough to lay the right foundations in training and there were repeated health setbacks. Of course, he has shown flashes of his class at times, like at the Tour de Suissebut then there were also crashes," said team boss Ralph Denk.
