Giro d'Italia: Bora captain Vlasov abandons Giro due to illness

Lennard Kämna has involuntarily become the sole captain of the German cycling team Bora-Hansgrohe at the Giro d'Italia.
As the Russian Aleksandr Vlasov abandoned the race on the tenth stage due to illness, the team is now concentrating its efforts on the rider from Bremen, who is riding a three-week stage race for the first time.

Vlasov had problems from the start on the rainy stage from Scandiano to Viareggio and was unable to keep up with the pace of the peloton. After around 70 of the 196 kilometres to be completed, Bora announced that the Russian had abandoned the race. At this point, Vlasov was in sixth place overall and just over a minute behind race leader Geraint Thomas.
