Wird nicht an der 110. Tour de France teilnehmen: Maximilian Schachmann.

Professional cyclist Maximilian Schachmann will not be taking part in the 110th Tour de France. His team, Bora-hansgrohe, announced that the eighth starting place, which is still open, will go to the Austrian Patrick Konrad.

Schachmann, who has had health problems over the past year and a half, had shown good form at the Tour de Suisse and the German championships. From a German perspective, only Nils Politt and Emanuel Buchmann are in the Bora squad for the Tour starting in Bilbao on Saturday.

Due to Schachmann's previous history, team boss Ralph Denk preferred to exercise caution. "We didn't want to take any risks. Max would have liked to ride, of course. We discussed it with him. Now things are moving in the right direction again. Then you top it off with a tough Tour de France? You can do that, but you don't have to. He sees it the same way," Denk told the German Press Agency.

Schachmann had suffered from coronavirus several times and struggled with it for a long time. Last year, he ended his season at the end of July.
