Three days after his success at Ghent-Wevelgem was won by the Frenchman from Jumbo-Visma as a soloist in Waregem after attacking four kilometres before the finish.
The Spaniard Oier Lazkano (Movistar), who had broken away from the peloton very early on with a breakaway group, was caught by the group around Laporte, but finally managed to join forces with Neilson Powless (EF Education EasyPost) to the finish line.
The German champion Nils Politt (Bora-Hansgrohe), who finished fifth last year, crossed the finish line with the chasing group and came tenth.
The 184-kilometre race was the final endurance test before the Tour of Flanders on Sunday. All five Belgian cobblestone races to date have been won by riders from the Jumbo-Visma team. The favourites for the Ronde decided not to take part in this year's Tour of Flanders. Neither defending champion Mathieu van der Poel (Alpecin-Deceuninck) nor Laporte's team-mate Wout van Aert or Tadej Pogacar (UAE Team Emirates) appeared a few days before the first highlight of the season.
