The new jerseys of the Canyon//SRAM Racing team are a real eye-catcher: changing patterns and a colourful mix of colours characterise the outfit of the German professional racing team. Purple and blue are mixed with a shade of red, which is intended to merge into a green tonal wave.
Represent sounds as colours? That was the designer's idea. The design called "Harmonic Riff" is intended to represent the sounds and rhythms of a race day - according to Canyon. Ricarda Bauernfeind and her team-mates are enveloped in brilliant riffs - from the gentle whirring of the freewheel to the cheers of the crowd. The mixture of colours and this way of depicting movement flow dynamically into one another and are intended to embody the team's impact in the race.
In a song, a constant tension of riffs and progressions attracts our attention. The highs and lows form the framework of a song and create space for starting points, be it a breakdown, a lead or a solo. But at the end of the day, everything is built around this harmonic flow. - Designer McKenzie Sampson
In a race, as in a song, there are always solos and pauses. Impulses and rest phases. The journey you go on when you listen to music is reflected in the race: the opening riff, the short interludes, the big climb. And, the climax of victory. It was important to the designers to incorporate this special dynamic into the new outfit and to visualise it.
Last year, the Jersey featured high pressure areas as they occur in the atmosphere. This year, Canyon has taken up the idea again and worked on the new idea together with Ultan Coyle (the Global Creative Director of Canyon) - Coyle has created the past designs of the Canyon//SRAM Racing jerseys.
Kasia Niewiadoma, Gravel World Champion and third in the 2023 Tour de France Femmes, from Canyon//SRAM Racing says: "The design fits perfectly with how we present ourselves and how we are perceived: vibrant, sharp and combative. As a member of our team made up of so many nationalities, I love wearing a jersey that is characterised by its unique design - as we are all, from the youngest to the oldest team member, so different and yet so similar."
Accessories such as gloves, headband, neck tube and race cap complement the new short-sleeved jersey, which is also available as a long-sleeved jersey.
