"I would like to announce that I will not continue with Arkea-Samsic in the coming seasons as announced on 16 August," Quintana said in a statement published on Instagram published video. He will gradually provide information about his future. "As you know, I have submitted my defence to CAS and we are still working on it with my lawyers."

The former Giro and Vuelta winner from Colombia was stripped of his sixth place in this year's Tour de France after he was found to have used the painkiller Tramadol. Contrary to his original plans, Quintana had already cancelled his start at the Tour of Spain in August in order to concentrate on the appeal before the International Court of Arbitration for Sport Cas. The 32-year-old has now also declared his season over.
