The 26-year-old Bora-Hansgrohe professional finished the demanding five-day race in Italy 45 seconds behind the British overall winner Tao Geoghegan Hart (Ineos Grenadiers). Kämna had celebrated his first win of the season on the third stage on Wednesday.
After 144.5 kilometres from Cavalese to Brunico, the British rider Simon Carr secured the day's victory as a soloist. Carr won the sprint of the chasers EF-Education-EasyPostKämna's team-mate Georg Steinhauser and ensured a German success on the final day. Another German, Kämna's team-mate Florian Lipowitz, finished in the top 10 in fourth place.
The 106th Giro d'Italia starts on 6 May with an individual time trial in Fossacesia Marina.
