Radsportlerin Liane Lippert hat den achten Gesamtrang bei der Tour de France Femmes auf der sechsten Etappe mühelos verteidigt.
German road cycling champion Liane Lippert has defended her eighth place overall in the Tour de France Femmes.

The 25-year-old finished the sixth stage between Albi and Blagnac in 17th place and maintained her 13-second lead over Ricarda Bauernfeind, who had celebrated the second German stage win after Lippert the day before.

The Dane Emma Norsgaard won as part of a breakaway group over the 122.1 kilometres ahead of the Dutchwoman Charlotte Kool and Lotte Kopecky. The Belgian Kopecky remains in the yellow jersey and slightly extended her lead to 53 seconds.

There was a mass crash in the peloton just under a kilometre before the finish, but the ten riders involved escaped lightly. Several riders had also crashed beforehand.

Challenging tour on Saturday

On Saturday, the cyclists can expect a challenging 89.8 kilometres up the historic Col du Tourmalet in the Pyrenees. The second edition of the eight-stage women's cycling tour ends on Sunday with an individual time trial in Pau.
