Radprofi Anton Palzer war im März 2021 Vizeweltmeister im Skibergsteigen geworden und danach in den Profi-Radsport gewechselt.

Former ski mountaineer Anton Palzer will remain a professional cyclist with Germany's best team, Bora-hansgrohe. The racing team from Upper Bavaria made the announcement, but did not specify the length of the contract.

Palzer was runner-up in the ski mountaineering world championship in March 2021 and then switched to professional cycling. Just five months later, the 29-year-old completed his first major national tour with the Vuelta a España.

"Toni has become an important part of BORA - hansgrohe over the last two years and his learning curve, also in terms of his role and tasks, is more than remarkable," said team boss Ralph Denk in a statement. "But he's also simply a good guy who enriches every team with his positive nature and attitude. You can see that he is living his dream," added Denk. Palzer emphasised that he was "definitely mega motivated to keep learning, to give my best and to polish my arse properly."
