Caleb Ewan will ride for INEOS Grenadiers in the future. The British team announced the sprinter's signing on Thursday.

The 2025 cycling season is already underway and yet the British team INEOS Grenadiers is making another move on the transfer market. With Caleb Ewan, the team financed by multi-billionaire Jim Ratcliffe is bringing a top sprinter on board. The 30-year-old Australian comes from Jayco AlUla and has signed a one-year contract with INEOS.

Caleb Ewan on switch to INEOS Grenadiers

In his career, Ewan has won five stages at the Tour de France, five at the Giro d'Italia and one at the Vuelta a Espana. However, the last of these eleven Grand Tour stage wins came in 2021 at the Tour of Italy - back then for Lotto-Soudal. Things didn't go well there in his last year and also in 2024, when Ewan rode for Jayco AlUla. At INEOS, the 1.67 metre tall man (nickname: "Pocket Rocket") wants to get back on the road to success. "It's been a few years since I won some of these big races, but I firmly believe I've got it in me. I'm only 30 and with the right guidance and expertise that INEOS brings, I believe I can get back to my best form here," Ewan says on his new employer's website.

Top sprinters largely new territory for INEOS Grenadiers

A detailed race programme for the 30-year-old is not yet available. For INEOS, which previously dominated the overall standings of the Tour de France for years under the name Sky, the signing of Ewan is also an experiment. With the exception of Elia Viviani, the British team has not had a real top sprinter in its squad in recent years, albeit only to a limited extent.

"INEOS Grenadiers is often seen as a team focussed on the overall, but I see great potential in the riders they have to support a sprinter," added Ewan.

Ewan is INEOS' sixth new signing for the new season. However, the team was in the headlines at the end of last year mainly due to the departure of Thomas Pidcock, who is now riding for the Q36.5 Pro Cycling Team.
