The Tour de Suisse 2025 continues its journey through Switzerland with a challenging second stage. On 16 June, the route will take the riders from Aarau to Schwarzsee over a distance of 177 kilometres. With a total of 2704 metres of elevation gain, this section represents a real challenge for the peloton. The stage promises not only scenic highlights, but also exciting sporting battles between different types of riders. The start in Aarau, known for its picturesque old town with its artistically painted gables, the so-called "Dachhimmel", forms the prelude to a varied stage. From here, the route takes riders through a variety of landscapes and past historical sights. A highlight of the route is Burgdorf Castle, one of the oldest and most important castle complexes in Switzerland, which the riders will pass.

Attack à la Urán?

The stage also takes the riders through Guggisberg, a paradise for nature lovers on the cantonal border between Bern and Fribourg. This section not only offers a picturesque backdrop for the race, but also demanding terrain that will challenge the riders. The last few kilometres before the finish line lead steadily uphill until the destination of Schwarzsee is reached. Schwarzsee itself, an idyllic mountain lake, forms the end point of the stage. The region around the lake is known for its numerous hiking and mountain bike trails, making it a popular destination for outdoor enthusiasts. For the riders, this means a challenging finish. The uphill finale could provide the ideal terrain for a late attack to put a spanner in the works of the sprinters, similar to 2007, when Rigoberto Urán secured victory on stage 7 of the Tour de Suisse with a late attack.
