The Dane Mads Pedersen has celebrated his third stage win at the Tour of Spain. The former world champion from Team Trek-Segafredo thus extended his lead in the points classification.
After a good 138 kilometres around Talavera de la Reina, Pedersen could not be beaten in the sprint of a large lead group. The best German on stage 19 was Jonas Koch from the Bora-hansgrohe team in sixth place.
The Belgian Remco Evenepoel reached the finish with the first group and came one step closer to overall victory. The 22-year-old defended the overall leader's red jersey and is 2:07 minutes ahead of the Spaniard Enric Mas and 5:14 minutes ahead of his compatriot Juan Ayuso Pesquera.
The mountainous 20th day section this Saturday leads over 181 kilometres from Moralzarzal to Puerto de Navacerrada. The Vuelta finishes in Madrid on Sunday.
