Die Deutsche Franziska Brausse feiert auf dem Podium nach dem Gewinn der Goldmedaille im Einzelrennen der Frauen.

World champion Franziska Brauße missed her colleagues from the gold quad from Tokyo a little on her jubilant tour of the Olympic velodrome.

"It's almost nicer to win with the team, because you stand on the podium with the girls and can be happy as a team," said Brauße after her title win in the 3000 metre individual pursuit at the Track Cycling World Championships.

Brauße has raced into the limelight with the women's four in the past two years. Olympic champion, world champion and European champion - to top it all off, Brauße, Lisa Brennauer, Lisa Klein and Mieke Kröger were honoured as Team of the Year at the Sportsmen's Gala.

Moving moments that Brauße wants to experience again soon. "The success story is hopefully only interrupted," said the 23-year-old and hopes that Klein, who is in poor health, and injured Olympic substitute Laura Süßemilch will return soon. "Then hopefully we'll be back at the front again." At the World Championships in Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines, the changed foursome was not yet ready to medal.

So this time Brauße had to race to gold alone, completing her set of medals after bronze in Berlin in 2020 and silver in Roubaix in 2021. "Standing alone at the top of a world championship, taking the title from Lisa Brennauer, is special for me," said Brauße.
