Moritz Kretschy narrowly missed out on a medal in the U23 road race at the World Cycling Championships in Scotland.
After 168.4 kilometres from Loch Lomond to Glasgow, the 21-year-old had to settle for sixth place after being part of the leading group for a long time. Frenchman Axel Laurance won ahead of Portuguese rider Antonio Morgado and Slovakian Martin Svrcek.
This leaves the German team with three medals in the junior category. Antonia Niedermaier had previously won the U23 class in the individual time trial.
In the junior category, Paul Fietzke won silver in the road race and Louis Leidert bronze in the individual time trial. In the elite category, the BDR team has so far only managed bronze in the mixed relay.
