Nimmt seine neunte Tour de France in den Angriff: John Degenkolb.
Classics specialist John Degenkolb will take part in the Tour de France for the ninth time. His team DSM nominated the 34-year-old for the most important cycling race in the world, which starts on 1 July in Bilbao.

Degenkolb has won one stage of the Tour so far, winning the cobbled section to Roubaix in 2018. Degenkolb has had a strong spring, with a crash in the finale of the classic Paris-Roubaix denying the veteran any chance of his second victory.

At the 110th Tour de France, Degenkolb's main task will be to help in the sprint train, according to the team. The native of Thuringia, who lives in Hesse, is expected to help the Australian Sam Welsford to a stage win. Thanks to his experience, Degenkolb will probably also be in demand again as road captain, as the extended arm of the sporting director in the support vehicle.

Romain Bardet, Matthew Dinham, Alex Edmondson, Nils Eekhoff, Chris Hamilton, Kevin Vermaerke and Sam Welsford were also nominated by DSM.
