Zéfal is expanding its range of accessories with a clever adapter that makes it possible to use conventional bicycle pumps with the innovative Clik valve system from Schwalbe. The compact adapter with the simple product name 0191 was specially developed to bridge the gap between existing pump technology and the new valve system. Instead of having to buy a completely new pump, cyclists can continue to use their existing equipment with this adapter.
Handling is extremely simple: The adapter is inserted directly into the opening of the Schrader valve on the pump head. An integrated locking lever ensures that the adapter remains firmly in place during the pumping process and cannot slip out. With dimensions of just 15 x 15 x 25 millimetres and a weight of 39 grams, the adapter is a lightweight and compact accessory that fits in any saddle bag or jersey pocket.
A particular advantage of the new Zéfal adapter is its universal applicability. According to the manufacturer, it fits most Zéfal pumps that are equipped with a compatible Schrader, screw or lever attachment. This includes hand pumps for travelling as well as floor pumps for the home workshop.
Particularly practical for racing-oriented riders: the adapter is also compatible with the Zéfal EZ Big Shot inflator, so that the advantages of the Clik valve system can also be utilised when using CO2 cartridges.
The carbon dioxide cartridges are particularly useful during competitions or in emergency situations when the tyre needs to be filled quickly. The technical plastic construction should ensure good durability, even with regular use under demanding conditions.
Schwalbe's Clik valve system has increasingly established itself as an alternative to conventional Presta and Schrader valves in recent years. The main advantage lies in the simple and quick connection between pump and valve, which does not require any screws or complicated mechanisms. With the new adapter from Zéfal, owners of conventional pumps can now also benefit from this system without having to replace their tried and tested equipment.
Of course, most other major pump manufacturers are also jumping on the Clik-Valve bandwagon and offering solutions for their existing pump models. Most manufacturers offer different attachments or even entire pump heads to replace the existing pump head.
The German pump specialist SKS has significantly expanded its range of Clik-Valve products and currently offers the Airflex Explorer and the Airkompressor in a Clik-Valve version. If you want to keep your existing pump, you can choose between the Clik Tec adapter and the Clik Tek pump head. The prices are 7.99 euros and 11.99 euros >> at Amazon or Rosebikes available.
Lezyne is primarily known for its high-quality aluminium pumps and now also offers a small selection of Clik-Valve accessories. For example, there is the ABS Pro Clik Chuck with a practical release valve for particularly precise air pressures.
The pump head is available either on its own for 21.99 euros or in combination with a set of Clik Valve valve cores for 32.99 euros. The Americans also have an adapter for existing pumps in their range: the compact Clik Chuck is - typically Lezyne - made of cleanly processed aluminium and is available for 13.99 euros.
Feedback Sports has developed a completely new pump based around the Clik-Valve system. With its compact internal air reservoir, the Pneuma CC can be used to inflate tubeless tyres with a powerful blast of air or to quickly lift a bike onto the Pro Air Lift repair stand.
For normal tyre inflation, simply flip the foot lever and the Pneuma CC functions as a conventional high-pressure floor pump. Special feature: The new Feedback Sports floor pump fits Presta, Schrader and Clik valves in equal measure and has a long hose, an oversized pressure gauge and a wide steel base. So much technology has its price: the Pneuma CC Floor Pump costs 99 euros.
Schwalbe itself not only has the right valves with Clik-Valve cores in its range, but also a suitable pump adapter. The Clik Valve Conversion Set with the corresponding adapter and two Clik-Valve valve cores is available for 13.95 euros >> available here.
