108 kilometres were on the programme for Henderson and co. They rode a circuit around Nanning in southern China, which the men were also to complete on the final stage of their Tour of Guangxi. The 1300 metre long and on average 11.5 percent steep climb to Qingxjushan proved to be a decisive hurdle. The preliminary decision was made there on the third of four crossings. A leading group consisting of six women formed around Henderson, which was joined by further women on the flat section.
Henderson and Andersson then used the final crossing of the climb to distance themselves from all other rivals. With a lead of just under a minute, the duo then entered the finishing straight and set off on a sprint, in which the 26-year-old Briton was able to secure her seventh victory. She had already won a stage of the Giro d'Italia earlier in the year and subsequently also wore the roda jersey. In 2024, she won Olympic silver in the time trial.
