The Belgian successfully defended his lead in the stage race through the United Arab Emirates on the final section to Jebel Hafeet. The British rider Adam Yates (UAE Team Emirates) on Sunday ahead of Evenepoel and Frenchman Geoffrey Bouchard (AG2R).
Evenepoel took the overall lead after the second of seven stages and finished 59 seconds ahead of Australian Lucas Plapp and one minute ahead of Yates. The best German was Ben Zwiehoff (Bora-Hansgrohe) in eighth place, the same time as his Bora-Hansgrohe team-mate Emanuel Buchmann. Evenepoel's last success until Sunday was his victory at the World Championships in Australia at the end of September. The exceptional talent has already racked up a total of 38 professional victories.
