The Woom Wow is for children aged 9 months and over: The balance bike stays upright by itself and is designed to train balance in a playful way - long before kids can walk properly or even ride a classic balance bike. This is how the little ones get started!

The Austrian bicycle manufacturer Woom is expanding its portfolio. The self-balancing balance bike Wow is designed for children between 9 and 36 months. Unlike other balance bikes for toddlers, the Woom only has two wheels. The central element is the so-called "wobble" - a gentle rocking back and forth of the balance bike. It is designed to help children train their balance. This movement pattern is designed to enable the little ones to intuitively maintain their balance and develop their motor skills through play. The self-centring handlebars support the first attempts at riding by automatically returning to the starting position and thus providing additional stability. The balance bike is tailored to the specific needs and proportions of babies and toddlers and is designed to offer them a safe and ergonomic riding experience.

Flexibility and ergonomics

The low frame and long saddle provide an ergonomic seating position for little riders. Rounded shapes without sharp edges and specially moulded handlebar ends with a large diameter make the balance bike particularly safe for the first attempts at mobility. The coloured, soft handlebar ends offer additional protection and add a visual accent. The carrying function is particularly practical for parents: the handlebars can be turned parallel to the frame with a simple hand movement, allowing the balance bike to be stored or transported in a space-saving manner. The low-noise tyres are gentle on indoor surfaces and ensure a pleasant ride.

Developed with expert support

When developing the Woom Wow, the manufacturer not only relied on its own experience, but also sought outside expertise. Product designer Daniel Kloboucnik explains that the development process focussed on the intuitive movement of children. The company also sought advice from paediatricians and developmental psychologists in order to optimally adapt the balance bike to the needs of the target group. Dr Katja Schmidhofer, paediatrician and specialist in general medicine at Klagenfurt Hospital, confirms the holistic approach of the product: the Wow is specifically designed to support children from the age of nine months in the milestones of early childhood development.

What else the wheel can do

The Wow is delivered fully assembled so that it is ready for use straight out of the box. In addition to the balance bike, the scope of delivery also includes the plush figure "Buddy", which serves as a play and cuddly companion and also offers a learning aspect. The package is complemented by an illustrated "Little Adventures Booklet", which playfully accompanies the journey of discovery on two wheels and provides suggestions for joint activities. These additional elements are designed to make the introduction to mobility a special experience for children and parents and offer added value beyond the vehicle itself. The balance bike is available in three different colours. Woom also offers a colour cap set for tyres, saddle and handlebar ends in five different colours for individual design: "plum purple", "lime green", "mango orange", "raspberry pink" and "blueberry blue".

European manufacturing and sustainability

Sustainability and responsible production were a particular focus during the development of the Wow. The wheel is manufactured in Portugal and consists of up to 98 per cent pollutant-tested, recycled composite material. The lightweight aluminium frame contributes to good handling and, like all other components, is designed for durability. An important aspect of the sustainability concept is the complete reparability of the wheel. It was deliberately designed without glue or permanent connections so that individual parts can be replaced if necessary. The use of separable mono-materials also makes it easy to recycle at the end of its service life. These features are in line with Woom's claim to not only develop high-quality products, but also to take responsibility for their ecological footprint.
