Phil Bauhaus (Bahrain - Victorious) sprinted to the podium on stage 6 at the end of the Tour Down Under. The 30-year-old professional cyclist was beaten by stage winner Sam Welsford (Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe) from Australia and Frenchman Bryan Coquard (Cofidis) in Adelaide.

German sprinters give hope

It was Bauhaus' second top 3 finish after second place on Friday on stage 4. From a German perspective, the performances of Tim Torn Teutenberg (Lidl - Trek) and Henri Uhlig (Alpecin - Deceuninck) also raised hopes. The 22-year-old World Tour debutant Teutenberg sprinted to fourth place on stages one and two, and finished eighth on stages 4 and 6. The 23-year-old Uhlig finished sixth on stage 2, ninth on stage 4 and sixth at the end.

Narvaez decides Tour Down Under 2025 at Willunga Hill

The overall standings for the season opener in the World Tour was won by the Ecuadorian Jhonatan Narvaez (UAE Team Emirates - XRG). The preliminary decision in the battle for the ochre-coloured overall winner's jersey was made on Saturday on Willunga Hill. Narvaez won the sprint ahead of Oscar Onley (Team Picnic PostNL) and Finn Fisher-Black (Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe). The previous overall leader Javier Romo (Movistar Team) had gone on the offensive early on the final climb, but was caught again and lost three seconds to Narvaez in the end. Together with the time bonus of 10 seconds, it was enough for Narvaez to take the leader's jersey from the Spaniard and ultimately win the stage race.

Three Red Bull victories for Welsford

The stage race ended very successfully for the German top team Red Bull with Welsford's third stage win on Sunday. The 29-year-old had already won three stages last year. Newcomer Finn Fisher-Black finished third in the overall standings. The New Zealander was twelve seconds behind Narvaez.
