After 177.8 kilometres from Valsir to Krakow, the 28-year-old from Bocholt had to settle for third place behind the French stage winner Arnaud Démare and the Dutchman Olav Kooij. Max Kanter sprinted to fourth place as the second-best German, while Pascal Ackermann finished ninth. The fifth stage Bauhaus had won before Démare.
British rider Ethan Hayter, who took the overall leader's yellow jersey on Thursday after the mountain time trial on stage six, secured overall victory in the seven-day WorldTour.
The best German in the final standings was 19-year-old Marco Brenner in twelfth place, 51 seconds behind Hayter. Ahead of Bauhaus Ackermann had ensured a German victory on the fourth day.
